Now called the Wheat City Bar & Grill, changes at the restaurant at 1260 18th St. aren’t limited to a shift away from the Browns Socialhouse name.

It’ll be a whole new restaurant, right down from its structure to its more “meat and potatoes” focused menu, owner Blake Trotter said, distancing it from the franchise as much as possible.

Everything remains on track for the new restaurant opening by the end of September, Trotter said, adding that while the quick turnaround has put a significant strain on everyone involved, various companies have come on board to help make it a reality. Mulligan’s Electric, Campbell’s Plumbing and Heating and Technology Solve stick out as picking up a lot of the weight.

A quick turnaround has been important since Trotter said that he wanted to lose as few employees of the previous restaurant, which closed Sept. 7.

Even so, they have some gaps that need filling, with the property hosting a job fair on Monday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., during which they’ll be hiring for a variety of positions.
