A fire at a Sixth Street home is being investigated as suspicious in nature.
Brandon Fire and Emergency Services were called to the 1000 block of Sixth Street at 5:09 p.m. Thursday night.
Capt. Shayne Collister said no one was inside when firefighters arrived at the scene, but crews could see smoke coming out of a window on the south side of the home.
Collister said an attack group extinguished the fire, which left heavy smoke and charring in the laundry room and porch area of the home. No one was injured.
The Office of the Fire Commissioner was called and Collister said the fire was deemed to be “suspicious in nature at that time.”
Firefighters left the scene at 8:45 that evening.
