Three people are dead following a multi-vehicle crash south of Minnedosa on Wednesday.

According to an RCMP press release, two RCMP officers were driving south on Highway 10 in a police vehicle when a small SUV headed north lost control and rolled into the the southbound lane.

The SUV first struck a southbound car that was directly in front of the RCMP vehicle before striking the RCMP vehicle.

Two occupants of the SUV — a 67-year-old woman and 51-year-old woman — from the RM of Glenella-Lansdowne were pronounced dead at the scene.

One passenger from the southbound car, which was initially struck by the SUV, a 56-year-old woman from Waywayseecappo, also died. Three other occupants of the car were taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Neither RCMP officer was injured in the crash, which involved six vehicles.

Road conditions appear to be a factor, according to police.
