Emergency crews worked to contain a fire at a six-unit apartment building in Brandon Tuesday afternoon.
Smoke billowed out of the two-storey building, located at 338 Louise Ave. on the corner of Fourth Street and Louise.
Tenant John Ferguson first noticed the smoke and said he called 911.
He watched the smoke billow out of his home on Tuesday afternoon from across the street.
“That’s where I live — that’s everything I own,” Ferguson said. “I (didn’t grab anything, I) just left.”
Some of the tenants have families, he said.
Four firefighters, two on each side of the building worked to contain the fire outside.
It started at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the lower level of the building.
“(From there) it spread to the second (floor) right above it. There were even flames on the tip-top of the house,” he said. “(I’m worried about) all my possessions burning up.”
