Dauphin-based cleaning supplies company Norwex will be donating one million masks to health-care providers around the world to help with the fight against COVID-19, the company announced on Wednesday.
According to a release sent out by the company, Norwex will be working directly with provincial health authorities in Canada to distribute the masks.
The masks being donated are made of three-ply non-woven polypropylene fabric, but are not medical grade. Norwex estimates that the masks will reach medical professionals by the end of April.
“Whether donating time, money or goods, charitable efforts are part of who we are, and this is our way of offering support and saying ‘thank you’ to our front-line medical professionals in a practical and tangible way,” Global chief executive officer Judy Letain said in a prepared statement.
Additionally, the company announced that it will be taking its own microfibre material used in its products to make masks for sale.
