Two City of Brandon employees have tested positive for COVID-19, a municipal spokesperson announced via email Tuesday morning.
One of the employees works for Brandon Fire and Emergency Services and was likely exposed by a family member. This employee has been self-isolating, has not had contact with the general public since August 22 and has not worked since August 19.
They were tested on August 25 and are still self-isolating according to public health guidelines.
The second employee works for Brandon Transit but was taking scheduled vacation time and has not been at work since August 6. The two infected employees are not believed to have been in contact with one another.
These are the second and third cases discovered among city employees after a worker at the Eastview Landfill contracted a case in early August.
Extra health measures such as mandatory hand washing or sanitizing and mandatory use of face coverings continue to be in place for municipal facilities.
