The BPS’ forensic identification unit and major crimes unit were called to the scene to investigate. A patrolling officer later found a woman on the 800 block of Rosser Avenue with blood on her clothes and a bloody knife in her pocket. Another woman was arrested in connection with the incident.

In a video of the incident taken by a bystander and provided to a Sun reporter, the Black man is engaged in a fight with three people in the middle of a road before he eventually pins one of them to the ground and punches them.

The other two hit the man repeatedly and tried to push him off the person on the ground, then a fourth person ran in from off-camera and thrusted an object into his side five times. More people arrived at the melee, then the taller man rose from the ground and walks away.

A video obtained by police showed the woman with the knife slashing the tires of the victim’s car before the fight started.

The first suspect, a 23-year-old woman from Brandon, is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, mischief under $5000, public incitement of hatred and failing to comply with a release order. Suspect number two, a 20-year-old woman from Sioux Valley Dakota Nation, is charged with assault, public incitement of hatred, public mischief and failing to comply with a release order.

Further charges are pending and the investigation remains open as BPS search for the three remaining suspects.
