The number of new cases at the jail has increased sharply from when the outbreak was first declared less than a week ago on Dec. 4. On day one of the outbreak, there was one inmate with the virus and seven staff members.

Cases of the virus have also been reported at the Agassiz Youth Centre, the Headingley Correctional Centre, Manitoba Youth Centre, Milner Ridge Correctional Centre, The Pas Correctional Centre, the Winnipeg Remand Centre and the Women’s Correctional Centre.

No deaths from COVID-19 have been reported in any jail in Manitoba.
