Brandon University will be hosting the 44th annual conference of the Prairie Division of the Canadian Association of Geographers, which is taking place virtually over the next two days.
According to a Thursday news release from BU, the conference will kick off with a keynote address on Friday at 7:30 p.m., when Dr. Gordon Goldsborough will speak about the topic of “Mapping historic Manitoba: development, themes, and applications.”
Goldsborough is an aquatic ecologist who also serves as the current president of the Manitoba Historical Society and has helped map out thousands of historic sites throughout the years.
This past spring, Goldsborough was even inducted into the Order of Manitoba, which is the province’s highest honour.
The conference, in general, is designed to connect students and faculty members so they can share perspectives, concepts, tools and information that contribute to a better understanding of their chosen field.
However, the public is also welcome to join the festivities this weekend.
