The Brandon School Division confirmed on Monday that a COVID-19 outbreak has been uncovered at Riverheights School, impacting two kindergarten classes that share the same indoor space.
As a result, a BSD official told the Sun that all the students in these kindergarten classrooms have been moved to remote learning until at least Nov. 15 and will return to in-person instruction Nov. 16 at the earliest.
This BSD representative also confirmed that public health officials first notified the division about a possible outbreak on Friday and recommended that these kindergarten classes be moved to remote learning immediately as a precautionary measure.
On top of confirming this outbreak on Monday, BSD also notified parents that at least one additional case of COVID had been uncovered in the “general school community.”
While this additional case is tied to the kindergarten outbreak, the BSD official couldn’t confirm how many COVID cases are connected to this outbreak in total, since the incident is still under investigation.
This outbreak also isn’t registered on the province’s COVID outbreak dashboard as of Monday evening.
A BSD official informed the Sun on Monday that the division is no longer publishing COVID notices on its official website. The last update was posted on Oct. 19 concerning a case at Linden Lanes School.
