Prairie Mountain Health recorded 85 new cases of COVID-19 from Friday to Monday, adding to the 660 cases the province reported Monday.
A news release from public health on Monday stated 201 cases were recorded on Friday, 164 cases Saturday, 159 cases Sunday and 136 cases Monday.
In PMH, 20 cases were identified Monday, including seven not fully vaccinated, bringing the total number of active cases to 185. There are 27 people in hospital, 14 with active COVID-19. Three people are in intensive care, two with active COVID-19. The region has recorded 5,152 cases and 96 deaths since the start of the pandemic in March 2020.
There were 258 COVID-19 cases reported in the Southern Health region from Friday to Monday; 185 cases in Winnipeg; 82 in Northern Health; and 50 in Interlake-Eastern.
Monday’s five-day test positivity rate was 5.7 per cent provincially.
There were 11 new deaths in people with COVID-19 since Friday.
Seven of the deaths were in Southern Health. Three of the deaths were reported Friday: a woman in her 70s and linked to the B.1.617.2 (delta) variant, a man in his 60s and linked to an unspecified variant of concern, and a man in his 70s. On Saturday, the death of a man in his 80s was liked to the outbreak at Third Crossing Manor. A woman in her 40s died on Sunday. On Monday, a man and a woman both in their 80s died; the man’s death was linked to an unspecified variant of concern.
Three of the deaths were in Winnipeg: a woman in her 70s due to an unspecified variant of concern on Friday, a woman in her 60s linked to the unspecified variant of concern on Sunday, and a man in his 50s linked to the outbreak at Health Sciences Centre GD4 unit and the unspecified variant of concern on Sunday.
There was one death in Interlake-Eastern: a woman in her 70s linked to the unspecified variant of concern on Sunday.
Eighteen cases have been removed due to data correction. The total number of lab-confirmed cases in Manitoba is 66,826.
Of the 136 cases identified in Manitoba Monday, 71 were in individuals who were not fully vaccinated. This includes 12 in Prairie Mountain, 33 in Southern Health, 12 in Winnipeg, nine in Interlake-Eastern and five in Northern Health.
Monday’s data also shows 1,528 active cases and 64,006 individuals who have recovered from COVID-19 in Manitoba. Currently, 152 Manitobans are hospitalized with COVID-19, including 107 people with active COVID-19 as well as 45 people who are no longer infectious. A total of 24 patients are receiving intensive care for COVID-19, including 18 people in ICU with active COVID-19 as well as six people who are no longer infectious but continue to require critical care.
As well, 2,549 laboratory tests were completed Sunday, bringing the total number of lab tests completed since early February 2020 to 1,153,020; and the total number of deaths in peyople with COVID-19 is 1,292 in Manitoba.
Outbreaks have been declared at Country Meadow personal care home in Neepawa, as well as Manitoba Developmental Centre Lawnside unit in Portage la Prairie; Holy Family Home in Winnipeg; Grace Hospital 4 North surgery unit in Winnipeg; and Village View Lodge assisted living in Plumas.
The facilities have been moved to critical (red) level on the pandemic response system.
