Conservative Party of Canada leadership candidate Roman Baber is making a stop in Brandon today.
The current independent Ontario member of provincial Parliament for York Centre is scheduled for a meet-and-greet at The Dock on Princess at 1 p.m. today as part of his campaign for the federal party’s leadership.
Baber was formerly a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario, but was removed in January 2021 after speaking out against COVID-19 lockdowns. He was first elected as an MPP in 2018.
His campaign website says Baber is in favour of a “balanced covid response” and against lockdowns.
He announced his bid for the Conservative party leadership in mid-March.
Baber is the first CPC leadership candidate to make a campaign stop in Brandon. Pierre Poilievre, an Ontario member of Parliament who is also running for CPC leadership, held a rally in Winnipeg earlier this month.
The Sun contacted Baber’s campaign Monday for an interview but did not receive a response by press time.
