Winds brought to southern Manitoba by the year’s latest Colorado low have caused hundreds of power outages throughout southern Manitoba, including Westman.

Manitoba Hydro’s outage website listed 404 outages in the province affecting 12,564 customers as of 12:38 p.m.

Though many of the outages are small in nature, areas around Riding Mountain National Park were hit especially hard, with power losses near Onanole, Sandy Lake, Highway 262, Clear Lake and Newdale.

There were also larger outages near Glenboro, Cypress River, Holland, Portage la Prairie, east Winnipeg and Carman.

In Brandon, there are currently outages along the Trans-Canada Highway near First Street, on Rosser Avenue near 22nd and 23rd Streets, on Schwitzer Avenue and on Princess Avenue East near 11th and 12th Streets East.

The estimated restoration of service for most of these outages is between 3 and 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Manitoba Hydro asks that Manitobans seeing downed power lines call 911 or 1-888-524-9376. People losing power should report their outage through the official Manitoba Hydro app or through its website at hydro.mb.ca/outages.
