Dauphin police seize weapons

Dauphin RCMP arrested a 21-year-old man early Tuesday morning after seizing various weapons and break-in instruments, although two suspects remain at large.

During their patrol of First Street South around 3 a.m., police observed three known subjects on bicycles who appeared to be conducting a drug trafficking transaction.

As officers approached, the trio fled on their bicycles.

After a short chase, police caught one suspect, although his two companions managed to get away. A sawed-off shotgun, a handgun, bear spray and break-in instruments were seized from the suspect’s backpack.

Collin Pruden, 21, of Saskatoon, was held in custody on two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, two counts of possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a firearm in a careless manner and being in possession of break-in instruments.

However, police still seek two suspects: a 24-year-old man and 30-year-old man, both from Dauphin.

Anyone with information is urged to call Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or submit a secure tip online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.

Mischief leads to drug bust

A 39-year-old man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police allegedly caught him causing mischief to property with a slingshot while also being in the company of someone who had methamphetamine in his possession.

Around 12:44 p.m., police investigated a report of a man firing at several buildings in the first block of 10th and 11th streets with a slingshot, breaking the window of at least one business.

After locating the 39-year-old in the area, police discovered he was hanging out with a 42-year-old man who was in possession of a club and several packages of meth.

Both men were arrested and later released from custody, with a court date scheduled for Oct. 13.

Teens sought for shoplifting

Brandon police are seeking the public’s assistance in tracking down two teenage girls who allegedly stole some merchandise from a local business earlier this summer.

The incident in question took place around 5:34 p.m. on July 13, when staff at the store, located on the 500 block of Eighth Street, witnessed the pair conceal some items in their bags and leave the store.

One suspect is described as having blond hair (in two high ponytails) and wearing all black at the time of the incident.

The other suspect had short hair and was wearing a white tank top, a black backpack and a sweater tied around her waist.

Anyone with information about the suspects current whereabouts is asked to contact Brandon Crime Stoppers by calling 204-727-TIPS (8477), visiting brandoncrimestoppers.com, or texting BCSTIP and your message to CRIMES (274637).

Crime Stoppers will pay up to $2,000 cash for information that leads to the solution of a crime.

Anyone with information about Connors’ current whereabouts is asked to contact Brandon Crime Stoppers by calling 204-727-TIPS (8477), visiting brandoncrimestoppers.com or texting BCSTIP and your message to CRIMES (274637).
