Manitoba’s COVID-19 death toll has increased by 12 people.
The province’s latest weekly COVID-19 report, from Aug. 14-20, showed deaths in the province related to the virus reached 2,105 as of Saturday. Last week’s fatality total was 2,093.
As COVID-19 cases are no longer reported directly to public health, health officials have said in previous comments delays in reporting deaths are to be expected. Once deaths are confirmed, they are added to the next weekly update.
There was a decrease in COVID-19 hospitalizations — 60 people were admitted to hospital with the disease in the latest report. Seventy-two people were admitted the previous week.
Eight Manitobans were in intensive care with COVID, a sharp decrease from 19 the week before.
There were six new outbreaks reported. Five are in long-term care homes, and one is at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg.
The test positivity rate is holding steady at 23.9 per cent.
