Hey there, time traveller!

Over the past number of weeks I have been watching the forecasts on one of my aurora phone apps, waiting for indications of strong activity over the Manitoba skies. And this Labour Day weekend did not disappoint.
On Saturday night, the forecast was particularly strong, so I set out for one of my favourite haunts along the shores of Lake Clementi, which is just along the southern edge of the Brandon Hills.
All of the shots I took were long exposure, taken with the shutter open for about nine to 12 seconds, with a wide-angle lens. The effect is quite beautiful, particularly when the waves of light start to dance overhead.

If you have some time to get out under the night skies, and the weather conditions co-operate, the aurora forecast remains strong for the next several nights, including tonight.
Find yourself a very dark sky away from any large communities and light pollution, and let your eyes get accustomed to the lack of light. You’ll probably see some stunning skies.
