RCMP investigates assault, shooting
Dauphin RCMP arrested a 27-year-old man Monday for allegedly taking part in an assault that resulted in shots being fired.
The incident took place in Dauphin around 6:20 p.m. on Sept. 23, when two female suspects confronted a 27-year-old woman and 58-year-old man as they were entering a business located on Sixth Avenue Southwest.
During the altercation, the female victim was struck in the head with a hard object, while the male victim sustained a cut.
As the victims got in their vehicle to leave the scene, the 27-year-old man allegedly shot at the pair using a modified firearm, striking the passenger side of the vehicle. The gunshot did not hit the two victims.
On Monday, Dauphin RCMP eventually located and arrested the male suspect, who allegedly had a sawed-off shotgun in his possession. He is now facing multiple firearm-related charges as well as offences for mischief and resisting arrest.
However, police are still looking for the two female suspects who committed the other assault.
Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact Dauphin RCMP at 204-622-5020, call Manitoba Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a secure tip online at manitobacrimestoppers.com.
Intimate photos shared
A 22-year-old man is scheduled to appear in court later this year after he allegedly shared intimate images of his former girlfriend via text message without her consent.
Brandon police got word of the incident on Aug. 24 and executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence Tuesday.
After collecting evidence at the scene, police arrested the man and later released him from custody to appear in court on Tuesday.
The suspect is charged with two counts of distributing intimate images without consent, as there is evidence to suggest that a second adult female victim is involved.
Police recover stolen vehicle
Brandon police arrested a 33-year-old woman Tuesday after she allegedly stole a vehicle from a parking lot located on the 1100 block of 18th Street around 3 p.m.
However, the owner of the vehicle tracked its location using an app, which allowed police to arrest the suspect in the 200 block of 16th Street later that day.
The 33-year-old was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday, as she is charged with being in possession of property obtained by crime.
Man accused of stealing e-bike
Brandon police engaged in a short chase early Wednesday morning after spotting a 39-year-old man riding a stolen electric bicycle near the Eastview Landfill.
After the suspect attempted to evade police around 4 a.m., he was eventually stopped on 17th Street East and arrested.
The man is scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 28, as he is charged with being in the possession of property obtained by crime.
Police returned the stolen e-bike to its owner.
