The Westman Wedding Expo returns to Brandon at the Victoria Inn Hotel and Conference Centre on Sunday.
This year’s tradeshow is expected to welcome 600 attendees and feature 40 businesses from nearly all wedding professions, including photography, entertainment, venues, catering and more.
The event will also offer up a two-hour workshop in place of a fashion show, where couples will learn to better connect with their wedding guests through fun activities and good preparation.
“We’ve filled both the Grand Salon and Salon One full of wedding pros, and everyone’s super excited to be back to where we can talk face to face with people that are getting married,” show organizer Bryan Podworny said in a Friday news release.
The Westman Wedding Expo was created in 2009 by a group of regional business owners, who threw the event together after a previously organized wedding show was cancelled at the last minute.
As the years rolled by, the expo grew from a few vendors sharing one small room to dozens of vendors taking up two large spaces at the Keystone Centre.
While this year’s event is headed back to a smaller space at the Victoria Inn, wedding professionals like Henrik Langer, who runs his own photography business out of Dauphin, is just excited to see it return, especially after the industry was effectively at a standstill for a time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“My first wedding after the shutdown felt like a reboot. Getting back into planning felt good, and I think my work improved a bit,” Langer said in the release. “I missed the excitement.”
The Westman Wedding Expo is scheduled to run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Victoria Inn.
Admission is $10 cash at the door, although those 16 years old and under can get in for free.
Those attending the expo’s workshop must pay an additional $10 per person.
