Second suspect arrested in Dauphin assault

Westman police have captured a second suspect accused of taking part in a vicious group beating and robbery in Dauphin last week, sending two people to hospital.

After Fred Parenteau was arrested for his alleged role in the assault, Manitoba RCMP said Thursday afternoon that Kathleen Flatfoot has also been detained, leaving Samuel Flatfoot as the only remaining suspect at large.

Flatfoot is a 24-year-old man from Pine Creek First Nation who is easily identifiable by his face tattoos, which include the word “Savage” across his left cheek.

All three suspects are accused of assaulting and robbing a pair of Westman residents last week, with Dauphin RCMP officers originally being called to the Tim Hortons on Main Street South at 5:35 a.m. March 13.

At the scene, police located a 45-year-old Pine Creek woman with life-threatening injuries. She was transported to a nearby hospital and later sent to Winnipeg in critical condition.

Police also found a 66-year-old Dauphin man a short distance away who had been suffering from serious injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.

RCMP determined the two victims were assaulted by three people at a business located in the 1500 block of Main Street South, the same block as the Tim Hortons.

Girl attacked in laundry room

Two youth were charged Monday for an assault on another youth that took place in the laundry room of an apartment building.

Security footage showed the victim was assaulted by several other girls.

A 12-year-old girl who was in custody at Brandon Correctional Centre on another matter will appear in court on April 18 on charges of assault and mischief.

A 13-year-old girl was also arrested and charged with assault, mischief to property under $5,000 and fail to comply with undertaking. She is being held in police custody.

Man arrested for forcible confinement

A 39-year-old man was arrested for allegedly repeatedly assaulting a woman and not allowing her to leave the home until she escaped a day later. Police charged the man at Brandon Correctional Centre where he was in the jail on unrelated matters.

The incident occurred at a home on Dec. 11, 2022, but police didn’t receive a report of the assault until March 6.

The man faces charges of forcible confinement and assault.

Biting, kicking prompts charges

Police arrested a 47-year-old man Wednesday after he allegedly assaulted a woman by biting and kicking her. The incident took place at a residence on March 11 and 13.

The man faces charges of assault and assault cause bodily harm.

Women found drunk in public

Two women were lodged at Brandon Police Service headquarters Wednesday after being found too intoxicated to care for themselves.

The first woman, a 26-year-old, was found passed out at a restaurant in the 1000 block of Middleton Avenue.

The second woman was found later that evening outside of a residence in the 500 block of 13th Street. The homeowner told police they didn’t know the woman.
