Accused dangerous motorist arrested

Brandon police arrested a dangerous driver wanted in connection with a series of hit and runs and flight from police early Friday morning.

Police say they first encountered the driver in a stolen truck around 1:30 a.m. Friday when he refused to stop for police in or around the 800 block of Van Horne Avenue.

Around 2 a.m., the driver dropped a female passenger off at the hospital before evading police once again. The woman had sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries because of one of the accidents and police took her to the emergency room for treatment.

Brandon and Carberry RCMP recovered a stolen 2012 Ford F250 in the municipality of Whitehead, which is believed to be the truck the wanted man was seen driving in Brandon.

The vehicle sustained significant damage in collisions with other motorists as the driver attempted to evade police, and had previously been stolen from the Rural Municipality of Riding Mountain West, west of Russell.

According to RCMP, they found the truck after it was left behind when someone stole another vehicle, a 2017 GMC pickup truck, from a rural property.

Dustyn Price of Waywayseecappo First Nation was arrested in Brandon on at 2:35 p.m. Friday after being found in the 100 block of Seventh Street.

He faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm, flight from police, possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, driving while prohibited and failing to comply with a release order.

Gaming thief

A 16-year-old has been arrested after allegedly stealing a video game console from a business in the 600 block of Princess Avenue. A youth captured on security footage during the incident Sunday was identified by police and arrested Thursday.

He will appear in court on May 16 on a charge of theft under $5,000.

Underage drinking

Police fined a 16-year-old Thursday night for drinking while underage. Officers were called to a home around 11 p.m. Thursday for a report of a disturbance. There, they found an intoxicated girl. She was lodged at police headquarters and received a fine for her drinking.

Man arrested after string of thefts

Dauphin RCMP have arrested a man in relation to a string of thefts in Dauphin. Braden Moar, 24, of Crane River, was arrested on charges of break and enter, possession of stolen property (a stolen pickup truck) and failing to comply with a release order. He was also wanted on three arrest warrants.

Over the span of five days between April 7-11, Dauphin RCMP received 14 complaints of break and enters and thefts of vehicles, ATVs, a lawn tractor, bicycles and power tools.

One of the items stolen was a 2003 GMC pickup truck from a property in the rural municipality of Dauphin that was later recovered in Crane River, a 2010 Dodge Challenger from a shop in Dauphin, an ATV from a property in Dauphin that was later recovered after it was in a collision, and a 2019 Polaris Slingshot motorcycle from a property in Dauphin that was later found in Ebb and Flow First Nation.

Dauphin RCMP continue to investigate and ask anyone with information regarding these thefts to contact them at 204-622-5020.
