Brandon School Division’s trustee representing communities outside of the city has resigned from her position.
Trustees voted at their Monday evening meeting to accept Ward 2 representative Caroline Cramer’s resignation effective May 1, 2023.
Ward 2 encompasses all the communities with BSD-run schools outside the city of Brandon.
Reached by phone on Tuesday, board chair Linda Ross declined to comment on the specifics of Cramer’s departure but thanked her for her work.
“We’re really sorry to see her go,” Ross said. “She was well-informed and interested and we certainly will miss her. I thank her for the services she gave us and I regret she wasn’t able to stay longer.”
A byelection to fill the seat will need to be called, but Ross said she is unsure of when that will be. In the meantime, Ross said any parents of kids at Ward 2 schools can call any member of the board of trustees if they have any questions or concerns.
The Sun was unable to reach Cramer for comment by press time.
Cramer, formerly the division’s facilities and transportation manager, was the only candidate to run in Ward 2 and was acclaimed to her position to replace the retiring Sherilyn Bambridge.
