The City of Brandon is reducing the opening hours for the Eastview Landfill starting next Monday.
Effective June 12, the landfill will only be open from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays instead of staying open until 7:45 p.m.
The landfill will also now close on Sundays and statutory holidays, when it previously opened from 11 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.
“This update will ensure that a certified landfill operator is always on site and certified staff are at the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) depot during hours of work,” a release sent out by the city on Monday stated.
“Reduced operating hours will also improve the level of service for residential collection, walkway bin pickups and the collection of depot locations, all the while ensuring we are providing excellent service to our customers, without any major financial implications.”
Starting Oct. 1, the landfill will return to its regular fall/winter hours, when it is open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and closed Sundays and holidays.
