Manitoba families have an extra day to cast a line into their favourite lakes for free during this year’s Family Fishing Weekend, which runs from Friday through Sunday.
Throughout the weekend, residents and visitors to Manitoba will be able to fish for free while also receiving free access to provincial parks, Natural Resources and Northern Development Minister Greg Nesbitt announced Tuesday.
Fishers will be able to fish without the need for a licence, except in national parks, where a federal licence is still required. All other regulations, including size limits, still apply as outlined in the 2023 Manitoba Angler’s Guide, available at manitobafisheries.com.
Vehicle permits will not be required to visit provincial parks from Friday through Sunday. However, regular camping fees will still apply at provincial park campgrounds.
Park visitors are encouraged to check provincial park conditions, as there may be temporary closures or advisories.
Before setting up camp, visitors should also check for the latest fire restrictions and are reminded to only make fires in approved fire pits.
