Firearms seized

Four people face numerous firearms and drug charges after police obtained a search warrant for a 10th Street home on Canada Day.

A 20-year-old woman, a 22-year-old woman, a 20-year-old man and a 40-year-old man were arrested and more than $1,000 in cash, cocaine and fentanyl were seized. Four days later, a 34-year-old man was also arrested in connection to the search of the home.

On July 1, shortly before 7 a.m. police went to a home in the 600 block of 10th Street to check for an individual wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant. While at the home, police were asked to remove some individuals who weren’t wanted there. Once inside, police apparently saw ammunition and applied for a warrant to search the home.

In addition to the money, seven grams of cocaine, eight-and-a-half grams of fentanyl, numerous firearms, a compound bow with arrows and a mortar shell with firing tube were seized.

Three of the people charged in connection with the guns and drugs were arrested in the home and are charged with weapons offences that include possession of explosives for an unlawful purpose and trafficking in cocaine and fentanyl.

The fourth person, the 34-year-old man, was arrested later on July 5. Police said when that man was arrested, he was found in a vehicle with a .22-calibre sawed-off rifle and a machete. He was charged with numerous weapons offences and two counts of drug trafficking.

Police say the amounts of drugs seized are considered street-level trafficking, and the seizure was not part of any longer-term investigation.

Suspect caught with meth

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly shooting at a home on the 700 block of 10th Street with a pellet gun and spraying bear mace toward the residence early Wednesday morning.

Nobody in the home was injured.

The man had fled on a bicycle, but police found their suspect nearby, allegedly in possession of a knife and one gram of meth.

He was charged with possession of a weapon, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of meth, and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.

Break-in at business

The Brandon Police Service is looking for more information in connection with a break-and-enter to a business on the 200 block of 10th Street on July 4.

Police say that the suspect entered the business overnight through the roof and, once inside, triggered an alarm around 1:10 a.m. before fleeing.

Nothing appears to have been stolen, but the ceiling of the business was damaged, police say.

Anyone with information about the break and enter is encouraged to contact BPS at 204-729-2345.

Stolen ribbon skirts

Police are seeking more information about a theft from Brandon University’s student centre on June 30.

It’s believed suspects entered the facility on June 30 between midnight and 8:30 a.m. Once inside, various items were stolen, including a TV and a bag containing a number of Indigenous ribbon skirts.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Brandon Police Service at 204-729-2345.

Break-and-enter to home

Police are investigating a break-in at a home on the 400 block of Fifth Street on July 4.

Suspects forced their way into the storage room of an apartment building and stole backpacks containing personal documents, including a passport, birth certificate and social insurance card.

Anyone with information about this crime is encouraged to contact Brandon police at 204-729-2345.
