A Westman alumnus of Assiniboine Community College has been named the new dean of the School of Business.
Terry Burgess is a graduate of ACC’s business administration program and served as a member of the Assiniboine Alumni and Foundation boards for 15 years.
Born and raised in Minnedosa, Burgess is currently with RBC as regional vice-president for Manitoba South, managing personal and small business portfolios in 30 rural Manitoba branches.

Burgess has lived in Brandon for almost 30 years, is on the executive of the Brandon Chamber of Commerce, and has volunteered in many organizations, including the Brandon & District United Way.
As he looks beyond his 38-year career with RBC, Burgess said this is a natural transition to helping the school prepare students for the jobs of today and tomorrow.
“From the large number of students I have hired from Assiniboine, I know this is important work and can directly impact the economy of western Manitoba,” Burgess said in a news release. “I look forward to working with businesses, employers and chambers across Manitoba to ensure the programs continue to evolve to meet the community needs for skilled labour.”
Burgess will replace Bobbie Robertson, the former dean of business at ACC who is starting her retirement, said Deanna Rexe, vice-president academic.
“Terry brings with him decades of passion for and knowledge of business, leadership and community. His professional accomplishments and community and industry connections will serve the School of Business well in responding to industry needs and pursuing new avenues to enhance student experiences and career opportunities,” Rexe stated in a news release.
Burgess will take over his new position this October.
