The staff of a local convenience store and gas bar are dealing with another incident involving a driver slamming their vehicle into the building, only this time the crash was an accident.
Local first responders were called to Little Chief’s Place around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday after a U-Haul truck drove into the south side of the convenience store, punching a hole into the metal siding and producing a large dent in the overhanging roof.
Photographer Liam Pattison arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and observed workers trying to dislodge some debris from underneath the U-Haul, since it had also plowed through one of the protective metal poles surrounding the building.

A Brandon Police Service spokesperson told the Sun on Thursday that no charges were being filed following this incident, since investigators believe the cause of the crash is “mechanical issues” and not impaired/careless driving.
No injuries were reported following the crash.
This marks the second time in just over a year that Little Chief’s Place has had to contend with some kind of vehicular property damage.
In the early hours of June 6, 2022, two men allegedly backed a truck into the front of the convenience store to try to steal the business’ ATM.
After tying the ATM to the back of their truck, the two men sped away from the scene, but were quickly apprehended by police following a high-speed chase.
That attempted theft resulted in extensive damage to the front of the store, forcing owner Jim Osiname to shut the business down for several months to complete repairs and renovations.

Wednesday’s incident wasn’t nearly as destructive.
When the Sun arrived at the scene around 11 a.m. Thursday, the store was still open to the public as local contractors worked to cover up the hole left by the U-Haul.
