Elections Manitoba posted the official results from this year’s provincial election on Friday, confirming that the Manitoba NDP won with 34 seats compared to 22 for the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba and one for the Manitoba Liberals.
Here are the final results for each of the three Brandon ridings in alphabetical order.
Brandon East
• Glen Simard (NDP, elected): 3,766 votes
• Len Isleifson (PC, incumbent): 2,711 votes
• Trenton Zazalak (Liberal): 307 votes
• 29 declined ballots, six rejected ballots
• Turnout: 46 per cent (45.7 per cent in 2019)
Brandon West
• Wayne Balcaen (PC, elected): 3,814 votes
• Quentin Robinson (NDP): 3,725 votes
• Bill Marsh (Green): 284 votes
• 39 declined ballots, 10 rejected ballots
• Turnout: 51 per cent (51.27 per cent in 2019)
Spruce Woods
• Grant Jackson (PC, elected): 4,986 votes
• Melissa Ghidoni (NDP): 1,936 votes
• Michelle Budiwski (Liberal): 1,145 votes
• 41 declined ballots, 22 rejected ballots
• Turnout: 56 per cent (56.75 per cent in 2019)
Overall turnout for the province was 55 per cent, with 488,979 total ballots cast.
Candidates have until Oct. 19 to apply for recounts. If no applications are made, Manitoba’s chief electoral officer will declare elected candidates on Oct. 20.
