Vehicle stolen at gas bar; meth seized during traffic stop

Vehicle stolen at station

Brandon Police Service is investigating the theft of a vehicle at a gas station around 10 a.m. on Saturday. A black 2008 Ford Explorer was stolen while left unlocked and running as the owner went inside the station’s storefront.

Citizen catches vehicle thief

A 22-year-old man was apprehended by a fellow citizen and turned over to police around 11 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect had been seen going through vehicles on the 2600 block of Rosser Avenue. He was charged with theft under $5,000 and released with a court date of Dec. 28.

Meth seized at traffic stop

A traffic stop on the 2400 block of Park Avenue around 10 p.m. on Saturday led to the seizure of drugs and cash.

After stopping a vehicle, police found 4.5 ounces of crystal meth, assorted pills, around $3,100 in cash and a .40 calibre cartridge.

Three people in the vehicle were arrested. Both a 22-year-old woman and a 40-year-old woman were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking meth and possession of proceeds of crime. They were released and are due to appear in court on Dec. 14.

The third passenger, a 36-year-old man, was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking meth and failing to comply with his release order. He was due to appear in court on Sunday.

Domestic violence

A 34-year-old was arrested on Friday before 7:30 pm by the police on the 2800 block of Pacific Av. for domestic assault as well as Operation while impaired, operation with or equal to 80mg/%, and failure to stop at the scene of an accident. He was arrested after a call was made to a residence on the 500 block of Braecrest Dr with regards to a female who was assaulted by her partner. The male fled in a vehicle prior to police arrival and drove through a fence while fleeing. He was released with an Undertaking to appear in court on October 19th.

Impaired Driver

Shortly after 2:30 a.m. police arrested a 23-year-old while conducting a traffic stop on the 1900 block of Richmond Av. for Operation While Impaired and Operation With or Equal to 80mg/%. The driver showed signs of Impairment. He was released with an Appearance Notice to appear in court on October 19th.

Domestic Assault

Shortly after 8:30 am on October 13th, police responded to a report that a female was assaulted by her boyfriend at a residence on the 3700 block of Centennial Blvd. Upon police arrival, a 32-year-old male was arrested for Assault. He was released with an Undertaking to appear in court on December 28th.

Warrants

Shortly after 4:30 pm a traffic stop was conducted on the 1300 block of 18th St., The driver was found to have five outstanding warrants for Failing to Comply with Release Orders, Break, Enter and Commit an Indictable offence, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and Flight from Police. As a result the 26 year old male was arrested and lodged in court.

Shortly before 4:30 pm police arrested a 29-year-old male on the 900 block of Princess Av for an outstanding warrant for Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. The male was subsequently released with an Appearance Notice to appear in court on November 9th.

Other Arrests

Shortly after 2:30 am police located a highly intoxicated male in the area of 10th St and Pacific Av. A 36-year-old male was medically cleared and lodged at BPS cells for his safety.
