Manitoba’s only certified purely organic grain elevator is only 10 months old, but is already operating at 80 per cent capacity. The young Arden grain elevator is expected to reach its double capacity by its second birthday.
More than 57,000 fans cheered after the Edmonton Oilers alumni team scored its first goal against the Montreal Canadiens alumni in an outdoor exhibition game at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton yesterday. The Oilers alumni team won the exhibition game 2-0, while the Canadiens won the nightcap — the first outdoor game in National Hockey League history.
TEN YEARS AGO
Bob Gwyer arrived at work for the last time yesterday and was faced with a bigger gift than he could have imagined. Gwyer, who has been at the helm of the parts department at the Mazergroup agriculture dealer for 45 years, left work for the last time behind the wheel of a new 2014 GMC Sierra — a parting gift for his long-lasting loyalty.
A few improvements have been made to the Brandon airport’s cramped departure lounge. Some new seats and a new washroom have already been added to the terminal building at McGill Field, at the expense of an airport manager’s office. New food vending options will soon be added as well.
