OPEN LIQUOR AND METH FOUND

A 30-year-old Brandon man faces charged in connection with open liquor in a vehicle, and possession of methamphetamine.

Police say they stopped a vehicle in the 1500 of McTavish Ave. on Saturday night, and noticed there was open liquor. When the man who was driving was searched, officers said they discovered a quantity of methamphetamine.

According to police, the man was arrested and later released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 2024.

YOUTH THREATENS POLICE

While police had a vehicle stopped in the 1500 of McTavish Ave. on Saturday night, they say they saw a knife near a 17-year-old male passenger.

When officers conducted a criminal record check, they say they discovered that the passenger had a previous probation order that stated he was not to possess any weapons.

The 17-year-old was arrested, who police say was intoxicated. He then spit on one of the officers and threatened to shoot an officer.

The youth was charged with failing to comply with conditions of probation, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and assault to police and uttering threats. He was held in custody with a future date in court.

IMPAIRED DRIVING

An erratic driver caught the attention of police at about 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, in the 300 Block of 34th St.

Police say the 33-year-old Brandon driver of the vehicle displayed signs of alcohol impairment and refused to comply with a demand to provide breath samples.

The man was arrested and charged with operation of a motor vehicle while impaired and failing or refusing to provide a sample when asked to do so.

He was released from police custody with a court date scheduled for later this month.

DISTURBANCE LEADS TO ARRESTS

A 28-year-old man and 23-year-old woman were charged early Sunday morning after police discovered the two were in breach of previous court orders.

At about 4:30 a.m., police responded to a disturbance at a residence in the 700 Block of 6th Street where they found a man and a woman.

After running criminal record checks of them both, police say the man had a previous release order not to have contact or communication with the woman, and had a curfew of 10 p.m. to 7 a.m.

The criminal record check of the woman, police say, revealed that she was given a condition not to have contact or communication with the male.

Both were arrested for breaking their previous conditions. The man was held at the Brandon Police Service with a scheduled court day, and the woman was released from custody with a court date in January 2024.
