Weapons arrest

Three people were arrested on Tuesday after allegedly being found in possession of a slew of weapons.

Police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in the 1600 block of 26th Street. Officers saw a machete in the spot where a 34-year-old man was sitting. The man allegedly attempted to flee but was apprehended.

He was also allegedly found carrying two more machetes, despite being on a release order to not possess weapons and be on a house arrest curfew at an address in Winnipeg.

During a search of the vehicle, police seized a set of brass knuckles and a canister of bear spray. A 24-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were also arrested. They are all facing numerous weapons charges.

Sexual assault

A 52-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

Police arrested the man, who was a friend of the victim’s mother, at the scene. He allegedly touched the girl inappropriately.

He will appear in court on Feb. 1 on charges of sexual assault and sexual interference.

Impaired driving

A 31-year-old man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly driving impaired and causing a collision on 18th Street.

Shortly before 10 p.m., police responded to a report of an erratic driver near the 900 block of 18th Street North. The driver collided with another vehicle, before driving off and driving over meridians.

There were no injuries, but a witness led police to where the driver had parked his vehicle on Lark Street. Police arrested the man and learned that he had gone into his girlfriend’s apartment without her consent and taken the keys to her vehicle without her knowledge of it.

Samples of the driver’s breath were also more than the legal limit. He was charged with driving while ability-impaired, driving with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in blood, break and enter, and taking a motor vehicle without consent.

Workplace sexual assault

A 24-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly sexually assaulting a co-worker in September.

The man allegedly touched the woman without her consent at their workplace.

The man will appear in court on Feb. 12 on a charge of sexual assault.

Break and enter to home

Police are looking for more information about a break-in to a home on the 300 block of 13th Street.

Police say suspects forced their way into the suite, which was supposed to be vacant, and stole a Wi-Fi camera.

Anyone with information about the break and enter is asked to contact Brandon Police Service at 204-729-2345.
