TRUCK FIRE UNDER INVESTIGATION

Brandon Police Service are investigating a pickup truck that caught fire while parked early Saturday morning.

The fire took place around 5 a.m. in the parking lot of business on the southern end of 18th Street.

TEEN WITH KNIFE ARRESTED

A 17-year-old boy was arrested after police were called to a disturbance on Cobalt Crescent around 9:30 p.m. on Friday.

When police arrived, they found the intoxicated and in possession of a knife. He was under a probation order not to consume alcohol or possess weapons.

The boy was arrested and is due to appear in court.

MAN ARRESTED AFTER BREAK-IN

Brandon police received a report of a man breaking into a business on Victoria Avenue East around 8 a.m. on Friday.

This man left the scene and was spotted entering the sunroom of a business on the 300 block of 11th Street, where he was arrested.

The 31-year-old man was charged with breaking and entering with intent and was released with a court date for Feb. 12, 2024.

MAIL TRESPASSER ARRESTED

Brandon Police Service arrested a man Saturday night who had gained access to the Town Centre Mall and refused to leave.

The incident happened around 10:27 p.m., when security for the mall alerted police about the man.

The 31-year old was arrested, charged with a breach of the peace and lodged in holding cells.

TWO INTOXICATED TEENS ARRESTED

A pair of 18-year-old women were arrested by Brandon police late Saturday evening for causing a disturbance while intoxicated.

When officers arrived at the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue around 10:32 p.m., they found that one of the women was in violation of a release order forbidding her from consuming alcohol, being in the City of Brandon and placing her on a curfew.

Both women were arrested, with one scheduled to appear in court about violating her release order while the other was scheduled to be released when sober.

CREDIT CARD FRAUD

A 25-year-old man was arrested by Brandon Police Service on Sunday for using a stolen credit card to make purchases.

The theft of the credit card and its use at a local business was first reported on Nov. 13. Police found surveillance footage of a suspect using the card and tracked him down on Dec. 3.

The man was released with a future court date.

BANNED DRIVER ARRESTED

A 49-year-old man was arrested early Sunday morning after police found he was subject to a Canada-wide driving prohibition.

During a traffic stop at 3:36 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop and discovered the prohibition as well as a release order forbidding him from being in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle and from operating motor vehicles.

The man was also ticketed under Manitoba’s Highway Traffic Act for driving an unregistered vehicle.

He was taken to holding cells at the Brandon Police Service station and is due to appear in court.
