Stolen vehicle
Police are warning people to not leave keys in their cars unattended after a GMC Terrain was stolen from Frederick Street early Thursday morning.
The 2013 grey GMC Terrain was stolen from the 300 block of Frederick Street, shortly before 9 a.m. while the car was warming up with the keys inside.
Police are asking anyone with information about the theft to contact BPS at 204-729-2345.
Resist arrest and assault police officer
A 30-year-old was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly trying to run from officers with an edged weapon.
Around 6:30 p.m., police responded to a report of a man at a home in the 700 block of Braecrest Drive, contrary to his release conditions.
Police say that when they tried to arrest the man, he fled and when apprehended he continued to resist police and pulled an edged weapon.
He also allegedly had a small amount of methamphetamine in his possession.
He faces numerous charges including fail to comply with release order, resisting arrest, assaulting a police officer, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Theft and mischief
A 13-year-old student was arrested for allegedly stealing and breaking the cellphone of a school employee and writing on the employee’s jacket with permanent marker back in November.
On Nov. 23, police received a report of a theft and damage to property belonging to an employee at a school in the 500 block of Park Street. The 13-year-old allegedly stole a cellphone and financial cards from the employee before breaking the phone. She also allegedly wrote on the employee’s jacket with a permanent marker.
On Wednesday, the 13-year-old surrendered to BPS and was arrested. She will appear in court on Feb. 27 on charges of theft under $5,000 and mischief to property under $5,000.
