Brandon University students will once again have the opportunity to participate in live theatre with the addition of a new drama program instructor, who will teach for the winter 2024 term. Rochelle Douris will teach three courses in theatre performance and prepare drama students for their first in-person public performance since the retirement of drama professor Jim Forsythe in 2019.
Douris is a Canadian theatre writer, director and educator. She has taught acting and theatre at the University of Florida and Guelph-Humber University and holds a bachelor of fine arts from Concordia University and a master of fine arts from the University of Florida.
She will lead students in the performance of Salt-Water Moon, a play by David French, which follows the fortunes of a Newfoundland family transplanted to Toronto. There is no formal audition for the show. Students must register for the theatre classes.
