Police are continuing to investigate a rash of vandalism to numerous vehicles in the south end on Sunday night that they believe to be connected.
On Monday around 8:24 a.m., police began receiving reports of damage to vehicles in the area of Cobalt Crescent, Frobisher Crescent and Hawthorn Crescent.
A vehicle on Cobalt Crescent had its rear window smashed out, while a 2020 Nissan Rouge was stolen.
Three vehicles parked on Hedin Crescent had their windows smashed out, door handles ripped off, and centre seats damaged. One vehicle had its ignition tampered with.
Three unlocked vehicles in the area were entered and rummaged through. Most of the vehicles were parked in driveways, and police say that they haven’t received any reports that any items had been stolen.
Earlier this week, police were asking the community for camera footage of the area that might help authorities with the investigation.
Brandon police public information officer Sgt. Dana McCallum said people have come forward with camera footage and officers are still investigating.
“What’s off about these is the damage to the vehicles,” McCallum said. “Normally if doors are unlocked, people are going to go in and see what they can find. But smash the windows, damage the seams, rip the handles off the doors — that’s the part that’s a little bit off.”
Police believe there are multiple suspects and no arrests have been made.
