“Nostalgiacore,” an art exhibition featuring works by BU’s fine arts faculty, will open on Thursday at the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art. The special opening event will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. Featuring paintings, ceramic sculptures, photography, drawings, sound installations and immersive installations, Nostalgiacore will be open from Thursday to Saturday each week, from 1 to 4 p.m., until Feb. 17.

The Bobcats basketball teams host the University of Saskatchewan Huskies this weekend, with games on Friday and Saturday at the Healthy Living Centre. Friday’s games start at 6 p.m. for the women, and 8 p.m. for the men. On Saturday, the women will tip off at 5 p.m., with the men up next at 7 p.m. The Bobcat futsal teams play their first game in Brandon this weekend, with tournaments that begin at 11 a.m. and run throughout the day. The men’s tournament will take place at the HLC, with the women playing at Assiniboine Community College.

The Evans Theatre is screening Maestro this weekend. This fearless love story chronicles the complicated lifelong relationship between music legend Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. The show begins at 7:30 on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, and admission is $6.

BU music education students are hosting the Da Capo conference on Jan. 20. A one-day professional development conference provides music educators of all levels a chance to participate in workshops and seminars. Email busmea@brandonu.ca for more information.

UPass cards for students: New students for the 2024-25 academic year can obtain their bus pass by visiting the Students’ Association office in Crossroads of the Victoria Avenue East Campus. Please note that students will need their student ID to be issued a U-Pass. Students may also obtain their U-Pass by visiting the following administrative offices at the North Hill Campus: Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts (MICA) Building — Room: 105 (MICA students only), Pineridge Building attached to the Len Evans Centre — Room: P131 (trades students). In the city for Ag Days? The wildly popular Aggie Alumni Mixer is back. Ag Partnership Breakfast: This event will be held on Jan. 17 from 7 to 9 a.m. in the Provincial Exhibition Dome Building during MB Ag Days. The college is pleased to host KAP GM Brenna Mahoney as keynote speaker. Proceeds support awards for students in agricultural-based programs.
