BRANDON UNIVERSITY

Chris Lagimodiere will reflect on his story and how his connection to his Métis identity provides guidance and strength in a BU Teachings House gathering on Tuesday. The session will take place from noon to 2 p.m. in He Oyate Tawapi (Ceremony Room) in the Health Studies complex, and all are welcome.

The Rural Development institute will present a public talk by Bruna Gonçalves Costa of Brazil on Tuesday. Costa will discuss how data is being used to analyze Indigenous movements in Brazil and the socio-territorial struggle that they represent. The talk will begin at 12:30 p.m. in the Gathering Space of the John E. Robbins Library.

Nora Wilson, on trombone, will be accompanied by Danielle Guina, on piano, for an evening of trombone standards and the world premiere of a new piece by composer Kenley Kristofferson on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Lorne Watson Recital Centre. The recital is free, but donations will be accepted for the Brandon Sexuality Education Resource Centre.

Nostalgiacore, featuring works by BU’s fine arts faculty, is on exhibition at the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art. The exhibition is open from Thursday to Saturday, from 1 to 4 p.m.

Mathematician T.G. Jaiyeola of Obafemi Awolowo University in Nigeria will visit BU and will present a Science Seminar Series talk on Friday. He will discuss quasigroups, loops and some of their mathematical applications at 2:30 p.m. in Room 4-47 of the Brodie science building. The talk will also be available online. The Bobcats men’s volleyball team hosts the UBC-Okanagan Heat this weekend at the Healthy Living Centre. Matches start at 7 p.m., on Friday and Saturday. The BU basketball teams visit the University of the Fraser Valley in Abbotsford, B.C., while the women’s volleyball squad has the weekend off.

A woman is suspected of her husband’s murder, and their blind son faces a moral dilemma as the sole witness in Anatomy of a Fall, showing Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Evans Theatre. Admission is $6, and the show begins at 7:30 each evening.

The Brandon Chamber Players present Tommy Crane’s Dance Music for all Occasions on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Kinsmen Rehearsal Hall. An evening of genre-bending electronic folk will feature Tommy Crane, a fixture on the Montreal and New York creative music scenes, on percussion, synthesizer and electronics. Tickets are $40 for general admission and $20 for students.

Former Humboldt Broncos coach Chris Beaudry will be the keynote speaker for the Mental Health on the Prairies Conference, coming up April 24-26. Visit BrandonU.ca/MHP for more information.
