The Provincial Exhibition of Manitoba elected seven new members to its board of directors and re-elected nine existing members during its annual general meeting at the historic Dome Building on Tuesday.
Almost 100 stakeholders engaged in the AGM, reflecting on the accomplishments of 2023, raising questions and contemplating the prospects for the upcoming year.
Newcomers Len Isleifson, Jessica Humphries, Bethan Lewis and Leisa Halloran secured three-year terms, while Jordan Sisson and Kerri Hinsburg secured two-year terms and Don Mitchell was granted a one-year term.
The re-elected board members included Jim Andrey, Jeff Bieganski, Mitchell Eastley, Dan Karashowsky, Dallas Mennie, Angela Pearen, Bob Scott, Clarke Swain and Rick Thomson.
The Provincial Exhibition also declared a surplus of $2,879 in 2023.
BDO official Trista White said the financial outlook for the Provincial Exhibition is positive and shows strong working capital, positioning the organization well for 2024.
General manager Mark Humphries thanked partners and volunteers on behalf of the Provincial Exhibition’s executive, management and staff for their continuous support.
Also at the event, Greg Crisanti was honoured with the 2023 Jim Figol Memorial Award.
The prestigious award, presented annually since 1991, recognizes volunteers demonstrating commitment, spirit and dedication to fairs and the community, echoing the values of former president James M. Figol.
Crisanti, a longstanding board member and past president, has contributed to various committees, including chairing the President’s Dinner. Beyond his voluntary service, Crisanti is a prominent business leader, co-owning Tim Hortons locations in Brandon, Dauphin, Virden, Portage la Prairie and Moosomin, Sask.
