Nominations for the upcoming Town of Carberry municipal council byelection end on Jan. 30, according to the town’s website.

A vacancy on the town council opened after Coun. Emma Denton submitted her resignation effective Dec. 4, 2023. Denton was elected to council in the 2022 municipal election.

To nominate candidates for the byelection, residents must obtain nomination papers and a declaration of qualification from the town’s senior election official, Grady Stephenson, by calling 204-834-6628.

Paperwork must be submitted to the town office at 44 Main St. by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30.

The deadline for residents to be added to the town’s voters list is also Jan. 30. To be added, eligible voters — Canadian residents at least 18 years old who have lived in Carberry for at least six months prior to election day — can reach out to Stephenson.

Election day is March 6.
