Theft under $5,000
A 32-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly stealing a electronic scanning device from a business.
On Jan. 29, around 9:37 a.m., a business on the 700 block of 10th Street reported that a man had entered the store, grabbed an electronic scanner off the counter and fled.
The incident was caught on video surveillance and the man was arrested when he returned to the business two days later.
Arrest made in robbery
Police made an arrest in a robbery that had sent a man to hospital with a head injury.
On Wednesday, police arrested a 17-year-old woman for robbery. The previous day, a 49-year-old man opened his door for an unknown man and a woman that he knew. He was struck in the head and they entered his home and stole various electronic items.
He was taken to hospital and then released.
Police continue to look for the male suspect.
RCMP stolen vehicle complaint leads to multiple arrests
Four people were arrested after a vehicle was reported stolen on Tuesday in Dauphin.
On Jan. 30, Dauphin RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle at 5:20 a.m. from a home on First Street Southwest in Dauphin.
Police weren’t able to locate the vehicle but later that morning received information that it had been observed driving erratically at high speeds in Crane River.
Officers from the Ste Rose du Lac, Winnipegosis and Dauphin RCMP detachments, along with the Manitoba West District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team, conducted patrols in the area and located the stolen vehicle.
Police say the driver in the vehicle failed to heed a police traffic stop and they did not pursue the vehicle out of public safety concerns.
A short time later, RCMP received information that the vehicle had just left a gas station in Skownan and was headed south on Highway 276.
Police found the stolen vehicle abandoned on Highway 276 east of Waterhen and saw numerous footprints leading into a wooded area.
With the assistance of the RCMP police dog, a drone and Manitoba Conservation and Winnipegosis EMS, four suspects were tracked into the wooded area and taken into custody.
Mason Moar, 19, George McDonald, 18, Denine Flett, 32, and Salita Beaulieu, 27, are all facing charges, including possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police and resisting arrest.
