Woman killed in collision
A 35-year-old woman from Sandy Bay First Nation is dead and two others are in hospital after a car crash on Saturday night in the Rural Municipality of Westlake-Gladstone.
Around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, Amaranth RCMP received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 50 at Road 99 North.
When officers arrived on scene, emergency responders were providing care to multiple patients. RCMP investigation determined that a southbound car crossed into the northbound lane, striking the oncoming vehicle.
The driver of the northbound car, a 35-year-old woman from Sandy Bay First Nation, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her passenger, a 36-year-old man from Langruth, was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
The 19-year-old driver of the southbound car was transported to Winnipeg hospital, where he remains in critical condition. He is from The Pas.
His passenger, a two-year-old boy, was in a car seat and sustained minor injuries. He has been released from hospital.
RCMP say charges have not been laid at this time, as one driver is deceased and the other is in critical condition and not able to speak to police.
Domestic assault
A 25-year-old Brandon woman was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly assaulting her boyfriend and his mother at a home in White Swan Trailer Court.
The woman was allegedly intoxicated and was arrested. No injuries were reported.
She will appear in court on June 3.
Trafficking cocaine, methamphetamine
Two women were charged with weapons and trafficking charges after a traffic stop in Brandon Sunday evening.
Around 6:52 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop in the 1300 block of Fifth Street. There were four women in the vehicle. A 27-year-old woman was allegedly found to be in possession of 17 grams of methamphetamine.
A search was later conducted at her 10th Street home. That search revealed 130 grams of meth, a small amount of fentanyl, a machete and numerous rounds of ammunition. Another woman in the vehicle, a 30-year-old, also lived at the same address.
Both women were charged with drug trafficking and weapons offences. They will appear in court on June 13.
The other two women in the vehicle were released without charges.
