Cocaine in the mail
Brandon police arrested a 32-year-old man on Monday after a package allegedly containing cocaine was delivered to a local business.
Police say at 10:09 p.m., they received a call from a business on the 200 block of Middleton Avenue reporting a suspicious package had been delivered by Canada Post. The package had no name on it, but contained individual bags of white powder believed to be drugs.
During the investigation, police learned a tenant from the business had inquired about his missing parcel.
Police say the man claimed the two ounces of cocaine found were for his personal use.
He was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. He was released with a court date set for June 13.
Arrest warrants
Three men were arrested in separate incidents Monday for outstanding warrants.
At 7:40 a.m., Brandon police were called to the Town Centre Mall for an unwanted male causing problems. They arrested a 44-year-old man. He was found to have an outstanding warrant for failing to appear for fingerprints. He was arrested again and later released with a court date set for April 22.
At 9:30 a.m., a 35-year-old man surrendered to Brandon police for an outstanding warrant for breaching his probation. He was arrested and held for court on Tuesday.
A 30-year-old man surrendered to Brandon police for two outstanding Family Maintenance Act warrants. He was arrested and held for court on Tuesday.
Theft under $5,000
A 32-year-old woman was charged Monday with theft under $5,000.
Police say at 8:01 p.m. a business on the 800 block of 18th Street North reported a female was in their washroom concealing items on her person. She left the store and jumped into a vehicle.
Police stopped the vehicle and were able to retrieve some power tools that had allegedly been taken from the business. The woman was also allegedly responsible for stealing a sweater from another business in the area on March 21. She was arrested and held for court on Tuesday.
Police also arrested a 41-year-old man who was in the vehicle with the woman. Police say he was breaching his curfew and found in possession of four grams of methamphetamine. He was also held for court on Tuesday.
