Hey there, time traveller!

Construction at the Brandon Regional Health Centre continues with a temporary closure of the hospital’s main entrance, affecting those using the front doors as well as the traffic loop.
Both the main entrance and traffic loop will be closed Thursday and Friday, according to Prairie Mountain Health.
“The work is scheduled to take two days to complete but may be adjusted,” PMH communications co-ordinator Monica Truffyn said in a news release.
Dialysis patients who are dropped off and picked up, including those brought by a handivan or medical transport van, can use the laneway entrance off Frederick Street.
Patients who drive themselves to BRHC can park in the main front lot and enter the hospital through the Centre for Adult Psychiatry entrance off Russell Street.
All visitors are being asked to use the CAP entrance, as well as those checking in for general services including X-ray, ultrasound procedures and lab tests.
The emergency department ramp will be used for patients being picked up and dropped off for procedures, including endoscopy and other surgeries.
The ER ramp is only to be used during the temporary closure of the front entrance, and PMH reminded the public to “please use the staff doors, not the ER doors to enter BRHC.”
Expansion and renovation of BRHC and the Western Manitoba Cancer Centre began in the fall of 2022, almost three years after the provincial government — under then-premier Brian Pallister — announced nearly $110 million in funding for both projects.
Once completed, BRHC will have four storeys with a new 16-bed intensive care unit, up from the current nine, as well as 30 additional medical beds, bringing the number up to 90 beds, plus a renovation of the existing neonatal intensive care unit with space on the fourth floor for future expansion if needed.
In addition to funding from the provincial government for the construction and expansion at BRHC, financial contributions have been made by the Brandon Regional Health Care Foundation, the City of Brandon and the municipalities of Elton, Whitehead and Cornwallis, according to Prairie Mountain Health.
In April 2023, PMH officials provided an updated timeline of the project. At that time, Debbie Poole, the clinical planning regional lead with PMH, said the January 2026 completion date is subject to change, noting obstacles like supply chain issues.
