There will be a rally today to raise awareness for missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit people. Beginning at 11 a.m., there will be a fire and guest speakers at the ceremonial firepit in the courtyard. Red dresses will hang in the trees along 18th Street as part of the rally.

Today is the first day for spring-session classes. The spring session is made up of two terms, with the second beginning on June 3. For those students who have completed their programs in the past year, Convocation is coming up later this month. Science, Music and Education graduation ceremonies will take place on May 30, followed by Health Studies and Arts on May 31.

Mini U will hold free Science Odyssey events this week. A come-and-go event for ages five to 13 on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m. in Room 002 of the Healthy Living Centre. Registration is preferred. On Thursday, children from ages five to 8 can try science experiments from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Western Manitoba Regional Library. Children ages nine to 13 can try science experiments on Thursday in Room 002 of the HLC. Registration is required for both Thursday events. The Lorne Watson Recital Hall will host the Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition in strings, from Friday through Sunday. Five finalists are in the running for the coveted prize. More information, including ticket details, is available at E-Gre.ca.

Hundreds of participants from around the world will take part in the GAC-MAC-PEG 2024 geosciences conference May 19-22. The conference will include talks on topics such as meteorites, dinosaurs, natural hazards, critical minerals and Indigenous relations. The event will also include free and fun educational activities for school groups and families. Email Brandon2024@BrandonU.ca for more information.

ASSINIBOINE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Join us as we celebrate First Nation, Métis and Inuit student achievements in education. Students will be honoured through ceremony and tradition on May 29.
