After a rainy Saturday, aspiring green thumbs sprouted to do some hard work on their vegetable patches at the Hummingbird Community Gardens in Brandon’s south end on Sunday. Some visitors like Jeanne Armstrong, who said she planted “everything” on her plot this year, have been at the gardens for more than 15 years, while Jackie and Larry Morais are taking care of a planter box for the first time this year. At Joe Parsons and Susan Hawkins’ plot, peas, beans, onions and lettuce are on the menu as well as 10 different kinds of tomatoes. (Photos by Colin Slark/The Brandon Sun)
