Ski Valley north of Minnedosa has been sold to new owners, according to a post last week on the resort’s Instagram page.
“Congratulations to the new owners!” the message said. “You will be meeting them soon, will update a family picture next week!!”
The Sun was unable to reach outgoing owner Don Horner by phone, and the business did not respond to emails requesting comment. The new owners were not named, nor was the purchase price.
In December 2018, the Sun first reported that Horner was putting up the resort for sale at a price of $1.3 million after originally buying it with his late father, Elliott, in 1978. Horner bought out his father a decade later.
At the time, Horner said the sale had nothing to do with a lawsuit filed by parents of a then-14-year-old who broke her leg on a school trip to Ski Valley.
In February 2022, the Winnipeg Free Press reported that Horner wasn’t shocked that the resort had yet to find a buyer and was preparing for another couple of years of searching.
According to the resort’s Instagram page, the resort has nine “distinctive runs” and a licensed restaurant.
