Shoplifter assault
A 26-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly shoplifting and kicking an employee who tried to stop her on Monday.
Brandon police were called to a business at the Corral Centre Monday afternoon after a loss prevention officer at the store tried to arrest the woman for shoplifting. She allegedly kicked him in the groin.
The employee did not need medical attention, but a check of police records revealed that the woman was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to attend court and was pending on six other outstanding charges, including assault with a weapon.
Theft under $5,000
A 41-year-old woman was arrested on Monday evening after allegedly stealing almost $400 worth of merchandise from a business at the Corral Centre.
Police were called after a business told authorities that a woman had stolen $380 in merchandise. The business recovered the merchandise and police found the suspect to allegedly be in possession of a stolen Mastercard.
The woman was charged with theft under $5,000 and possession of property obtained by crime.
Cocaine trafficking
Three people were arrested for cocaine trafficking after a traffic stop when they were allegedly found with an ounce of cocaine and more than $1,000 in cash.
On Monday evening, police conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle in the 1000 block of Princess Avenue. The investigation led to the seizure of one ounce of cocaine (valued at $1,600) and $1,200 in cash.
The three occupants of the vehicle — a 41-year-old man, a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman — were arrested on charges of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.
They are due to appear in court on Aug. 8.
