Hey there, time traveller!

Carberry Signs has started a new print division in the former Brandon Sun building at 501 Rosser Ave. — and one of the draws was the growth potential in the downtown area.
The printing firm was bought by Mike Fedak and his parents, Shaunna and Cal, in 2022 from two local entrepreneurs looking to pass the torch to another local family, Fedak told the Sun.
Fedak said the move to Brandon was also part of a broader strategy to expand their services and grow their business after it had acquired Webber Printing’s assets last year.
“The company’s expansion into Brandon came naturally after Webber Printing declared bankruptcy, leaving a gap in the market,” Fedak told the Sun. “Downtown Brandon has a lot of potential, and we’re excited to be part of its revitalization.”
Division manager Tom Wenham said operating from space inside the former Brandon Sun building, which the company rents from the new owner, was a perfect fit due to the building’s rich printing history.
“We rebranded as Carberry Signs Print Division and officially launched in January,” he told the Sun. “We are optimistic about the downtown Brandon location, seeing more benefits than challenges.”
He admitted the location has a reputation that isn’t always fair, but said the business hasn’t experienced any major issues and believes the pros outweigh the cons.
“There are programs in place to support businesses, and we see a lot of growth potential.”
Carberry Signs hired all the division staff from Weber Printing, including the designers, press operators and salespeople, and the company is maintaining the same quality and service as the former Weber Printing, he said.
Carberry Signs aims to stand out in the competitive print industry through a combination of extensive services, customer relationships and competitive pricing, Fedak said.
“Our focus is on building great relationships and being a one-stop shop for our customers,” he said. “We offer a wide range of services, from promotional products and signage to vehicle wraps and printing. By consolidating these services under one roof, we make it easier for businesses to get everything they need from one place.”
The company’s purchasing power, bolstered by locations in Brandon and Carberry, allows it to offer aggressive pricing while maintaining high quality and speedy delivery, Fedak said.
Despite minor challenges like parking and attracting more foot traffic, he added, Carberry Signs is committed to contributing to downtown Brandon’s resurgence.
“We’re optimistic and plan to continue expanding our services and workforce as our client base grows,” he said. “With the right support and continued efforts from local businesses and the city, we believe downtown Brandon can thrive again. We’re committed to contributing to that growth.”
