Two Canadian recording artists known for their Christian music will be performing in Brandon on Saturday evening at Calvary Temple in the city’s west end.
Brian Doerksen and Marika Siewert’s concert tour is called “Come Now Is the Time to Worship.” The Wheat City is the fifth stop on their 10-city Canadian tour.
Doerksen, a resident of Abbotsford, B.C., won a Juno award in 2008 for his album “Holy God,” in the contemporary Christian/gospel album category.
In 2019, the Gospel Music Association of Canada named his album “Grateful” the inspirational album of the year, and five years earlier, the association honoured him with a lifetime achievement award.
Siewert, a singer, songwriter, director and actor, was born in Trinidad and raised in England and Medicine Hat, Alta.
In 2010, her single “Angel” was featured on Lifetime network’s movie “Sins of the Mother.” In 2013, her album “Unstoppable” won the Gospel Music Association covenant award for pop album of the year.
That same year, she was a featured singer in Hallmark TV channel’s series “Signed, Sealed, Delivered.”
Siewert and Doerksen have collaborated in the past with the single “In Search Of” and have shared the stage with Grammy award winner and Christian recording artist Michael W. Smith.
Saturday’s concert featuring Siewert and Doerksen is scheduled for 7 to 9:30 p.m. at Brandon’s Calvary Temple, 620 34th St.
Doerksen will be conducting a worship workshop earlier in the day, beginning at 2 p.m.
