Presented by Frozen Fire Studios and Westman Mental Wellness and Suicide Prevention Association this evening will highlight resources toward mental health, trauma and addictions in the Westman area and raise money for organizations for awareness efforts and programs. • 5:30 to 7 p.m. — Storytime and Supportive Parenting Workshop with SERC at the John R. Robbins Library (270 18th St.). Topics included in the workshop include language, terminology, how to support someone who comes out, and resources and supports available in-person and online. • 10:15 a.m. — Drop by the Brandon Shoppers Mall Library Branch for Wiggly Wednesday, a story time program for children ages 0-5. Children under 12 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
• 1 to 4 p.m. — Join members of the Brandon Scrabble Club for an afternoon of Scrabble, coffee and laughs at the Brandon Public Library. Scrabble boards are provided, and all levels of skill are welcome to attend. No registration is required.

MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
• Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — In honour of RCAF’s 100th anniversary, the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum, Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War, has switched to summer hours: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. seven days a week at the Brandon Municipal Airport. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display area for aircraft, vehicles and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Memorial wall.
• Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, the Daly House was the original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia, toys, dolls and women’s wear. Currently on exhibit is “The Sound of History: Band and Musicians of Western Manitoba” until Sept. 7. Museum hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. (September to June). • Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — Our Second World War vehicle exhibit includes eight military vehicles used by Canadians during the Second World War. Military vehicles provided firepower, logistical support, mobility and protection for the Canadian Army, enhancing their effectiveness during the Second World War. • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first, the AGSM boasts two art galleries, studios for youth and adult classes and a gift shop that supports more than 90 Manitoban artists and artisans. In the Main Gallery: “The Problem of the Moon,” running until June 8. Hours: 4 to 9 p.m. Monday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. • Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney) — The Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. • 26th Field Regiment RCA/XII Manitoba Dragoons Museum (within the Brandon Armoury, 1116 Victoria Ave.) — The museum is open Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closed for lunch. Also open by appointment.
• Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. • ArtsForward (293 Mountain Ave., Neepawa) — ArtsForward is the central arts venue in Neepawa in visual, literary, performing and material arts. Hours: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Mondays to Thursdays; 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays; closed on weekends.
• Virden Pioneer Home Museum (390 King St. West, Virden) — The museum house was built in 1888 by James F. Frame, a hardware and lumber merchant and prominent citizen in the community. The main house depicts how a family in the Victorian era would have lived. We also have two additional Annexes and a Coach House available for viewing. • Wasagaming Community Arts (110 Wasagaming Drive, Clear Lake) — Wasagaming Community Arts cordially invites you to attend the first exhibition of the 2024 season featuring the works of Douglas Ingram, David Arbuthnott, Shirley Rayner and Susan Graham McDougall. The exhibit runs until June 25.

• June 13 — City of Brandon Parks and Recreation is hosting the Brandon Municipal Cemetery Historical Walking Tour. Join us for a guided tour as we stroll through our beautiful cemetery and learn about a few of the fascinating people who have been laid to rest over the last century. There are two separate tours: June 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. with theme “Inspiring Stories from the Brandon Cemetery”; June 22 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. with theme “Murder and Mayhem Stories from the Brandon Cemetery.” These offerings are at no cost. • June 13 — The Riverbank Discovery Centre launches paddle programming. Join us for our debut River Roam June 13 from 7-9 p.m. The first session will cover some basic safety before we take to the water and explore Brandon’s Assiniboine River. • June 15 — Peak Performance & Athletics presents Peak Boxing Event — Brandon Fitness Combat Academy at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. • June 15 — The Great Brandon Mystery, a competitive mystery-solving program for adults. Participants will be required to travel around solving challenging clues and puzzles, and even completing challenges. $25 for individual spots, $100 for team. To register, call 204 729-2471.
• June 15-16 — The 27th annual Little Valley Jamboree will be held at the Erickson Recreation Centre. This musical festival is held to raise awareness, support and funds for children living with special needs in the area and throughout Manitoba. This year are recipients are: Evie Kerkowich, Isla Melvin and Daphne Robb. June 15 lineup includes Barn Yard Bandits (kids’ band), Valley Women, Steven Smith Trio, Live auction, The Bad Marleys, The New Highway 25 and Better Than. June 16 lineup features Brad Johnson and The Talent, Trevor Crook, J4K, Meet the Recipients, Lucky Ned and Zach Weston. (subject to change). • June 16 — Father’s Day fishing competition and breakfast in Dinsdale Park 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Event is hosted by Men’s Resource Centre of Brandon. Fishing supplies and rods will be provided.
• June 16 — Westman Jams is holding a jam session and barbecue at Crow’s General Store (Rosser Avenue East just past The Green Spot) from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The barbecue will support the Reg Jones Memorial Scholarship Fund that financially assists music students from southern Manitoba with scholarships to attend the International Music Camp held at the Peace Garden every summer. There is always a chair waiting for new musicians, too!
• June 17 —The Dock on Princess presents “It’s Serial: Murder Mystery” event from 6 to 9 p.m. Put together your best detective friends and book a table for one of our upcoming murder mystery nights and see if you can solve the case. • June 20 — Lady of the Lake presents an evening with Ladylight, the most renowned medium in Brandon and Westman area. Attendees will receive spiritual communication, lovely refreshments and a unique experience. The event runs from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $60.
• July 1 — Come saddle up for an unforgettable Cowboy Supper Trail Ride at Lucky Break Ranch in Rivers. Experience the Old West come to life as you embark on a scenic horseback ride through picturesque trails. Whether you’re a seasoned cowboy or have no horse experience at all and are looking for an authentic Western experience, our Cowboy Supper Trail Ride is sure to be a highlight of your summer.
